Sofie Alaina Rose Seymour is an art-maker from Philadelphia PA. She is primarily a mover, shaker and dance-maker, and has also worked in documentary film and theatre. Her practice is anchored by a belief in social-impact, storytelling, and an obligation to work towards a more just world. She is still trying to figure this out, and is open to suggestions.
At Sable, Sofie Rose is reconnecting with her crafts practices, such as book making and stained glass; soaking in the nourishment of trees + sky + veggies + a reflective community; attempting a 3-year-old item on the to-do list of learning to play the ukulele; and not yet panicking too badly about her recent college graduation. She believes in the everyday magic of intentionality, listening, storytelling, radical empathy, and the struggle towards justice, she is allergic to kiwis, and at age 3, she refused to go onstage at her first dance recital, so her mom had to lie to the grandparents and say that a random tutu-clad toddler on stage had been theirs.
