Ellie MacBride, she/they, San Francisco
Playwright / Performer
Ellie's work, which often blends immersive theater with taboo themes such as suicide and polyamory, is meant to be a springboard for discussing difficult topics, while also providing a safe space for more vulnerable participants to find a sense of purpose and belonging. By taking a more traditional narrative into an immersive setting, Ellie hopes to give audience members the chance to really feel like they’re a part of the story before asking them to explore more complex themes. While at Sable, Ellie wrote a short play about cannibalism, which she then performed with other resident artists at Sable's "Food and Art Friday." In San Francisco, Ellie lives in a tiny studio with big windows and a siamese cat named Teddie who is sitting by her side as she types this.
